A scuffle with another dog or wildlife. A hunger for paper products, socks, and other non-food items. Consumption of strange plants, human meds, and other potential toxins. New and scary symptoms of chronic diseases. Pet emergencies come in many different forms. These and other situations call for trusted and prompt expertise from the veterinarians and team at Orange Park Animal Hospital at Oakleaf.
When searching for an “Emergency Room near me” in Jacksonville, Florida, most days of the week and outside of “regular business hours,” our team, led by Dr. James Gillen, is available and equipped to get your pet out of danger and back in to feeling their healthy, tail-wagging best.
Whereas other animal clinics and veterinary hospitals in our area market their urgent care services and capabilities, we are an authentic and sophisticated emergency provider. In part, we offer:
And, while we appreciate that accidents can happen and some things in life are simply outside of our control, Dr. Gillen emphasizes managing what we can. In turn, we provide guidance on things like potentially toxic and overlooked household items. We share how to store those items or products that cannot be substituted or easily replaced.
Additionally, proactive services like microchipping and spaying can minimize the behaviors that lead to pets escaping, and that can result in dire safety consequences for dogs and cats who end up roaming the streets where they are vulnerable to injuries. Microchips have facilitated many happy reunions while spaying and neutering minimizes the unwanted pet population and protects against unsafe and annoying habits (like intense mating compulsions, aggression, vocalizations, and spraying). These common procedures also reduce the risk of your dog or cat developing certain cancers and illnesses associated with the reproductive organs.
Also, our affordable wellness plans for puppies, kittens, and adult dogs and cats cover many of the preventative services that your pet needs.

When you call, be sure to ask about our stress-free money-savers, like discounts for military dogs (we are proud supporters of NAS Jacksonville, Florida!), discounts for rescue dogs, and financing through CareCredit®.
